Frequently asked questions
Experience Africa Safaris - Being nature connectedBooking and planning
The best safari depends on your travel style and budget. If you are
adventurous and enjoy a hands-on experience, our camping and
overland safaris are a great choice. If you prefer more comfort, our
lodge-based or mixed lodge safaris are perfect. Our team is always
available to discuss your preferences and help you select the ideal
itinerary.
The dry season (roughly May to October) is considered prime time for
wildlife viewing. The vegetation is sparse, and animals congregate
around water sources, making them easier to spot. The wet season
(November to April) offers lush, green landscapes and is excellent
for birdwatching and photography, and it's also when many animals
give birth.
We recommend packing light, comfortable clothing in neutral colors
(khaki, tan, green). Layers are essential, as mornings and evenings
can be cool. A wide-brimmed hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, insect
repellent, and a good pair of binoculars are also highly
recommended. A detailed packing list will be provided with your
booking confirmation.
Due to the limited space in our safari vehicles and on smaller bush
planes, luggage is often restricted. We recommend using soft-sided
bags or duffels and adhering to the weight limits specified in your
tour documents. This is typically around 15-20 kg (33-44 lbs).
Some of our safari destinations are in malaria-prone areas. It is
essential to consult your doctor or a travel clinic for advice on
anti-malarial medication and other recommended vaccinations well in
advance of your trip. We also advise bringing any personal
medication you may need.
On the road
Our overland vehicles are custom-built, rugged trucks designed for
the tough African roads. They have large windows for optimal game
viewing and are equipped with everything needed for the journey.
Lodge-based safaris may use open-sided 4x4 safari vehicles, which
offer excellent visibility for photography and game drives.
Our safari chefs prepare delicious and varied meals, often cooked
over an open fire. You can expect a mix of local and international
dishes, with fresh ingredients. We can accommodate most dietary
requirements, so please inform us of any allergies or preferences
when you book.
Your safety is our top priority. All our guides and trackers are
highly trained professionals with extensive knowledge of the bush.
We adhere to strict safety protocols at all times, both in and out
of the vehicle. We recommend you always follow the instructions of
your guide.
In our vehicles and at most camps and lodges, there are facilities
to charge phones and camera batteries. However, power may be limited
or run on a generator, so it's a good idea to bring extra batteries
or a power bank, especially for photography-focused tours.
